The National Office for Standardization and Metrology is an industrial and commercial institution headquartered in Nouakchott, under the supervision of the Ministry of Mines and Industry. The Office was established through the will and commitment of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, President of the Republic, to make Mauritania a benchmark for quality in the region through his program “My Ambitions for the Nation”.

Our institution’s mission is to promote and implement quality and safety standards and ensure measurements across various sectors, in support of the country’s economic and social development. Standardization, certification and metrology are essential tools that help ensure the conformity of products and services, protect consumers and strengthen business competitiveness.

We are committed to working closely with public- and private-sector stakeholders and international partners to develop quality infrastructures tailored to our economy's needs. Through our actions and initiatives, we aim to establish a sustainable culture of quality that fosters innovation and continuous improvement.
